Account Manager CIS Countries (Agricultural Sector)
Introduction
The CIS countries are not a standard export market. It is a market built on long-term relationships, clear hierarchies and agreements that must be accurate down to the smallest detail. Genetics Consolidated exports dairy cattle genetics to more than 40 countries worldwide. Since 2010, the CIS region has been a stable and mature market with loyal customers and recurring deliveries. This market is not about quick deals, but about precision, trust and flawless execution. For this region, we are looking for an Account Manager who maintains oversight, understands contracts and operates with cultural confidence.

General Manager
What will you do as Account Manager CIS?
As Account Manager CIS, you are responsible for a fixed group of customers. The role involves long-term partnerships, significant financial interests and deliveries that require months of preparation. You ensure that commercial agreements and execution align seamlessly.
Your workday starts at 8:00 AM. In many of your countries, the workday is already well underway. Daily communication takes place primarily in Russian. Contracts are drafted in Russian and English, and both versions must be legally and commercially identical. Payment terms, risk transfer and Incoterms are carefully coordinated.
Multiple dossiers run simultaneously per client. Before transport can take place, testing, documentation and export requirements must be fully completed. Maintaining oversight is essential: what can proceed, where are delays occurring, and where are risks emerging? Intensive coordination with colleagues in genetics and logistics ensures agreements remain executable.
The primary focus is relationship management. Approximately 90% of the role involves maintaining and strengthening existing customer relationships. A smaller portion involves expansion through trade fairs and network contacts in the region, requiring several trips per year. You therefore hold a passport that allows travel to Russia. Together with Genetics Consolidated and regional partners, the appropriate visas are arranged.
The role is seasonal in nature. From August to November, multiple deliveries run in parallel and pressure increases. This requires sharp decision-making. At times, this also means deliberately choosing not to proceed when risks become too great.
Unexpected situations are part of working in this market. Changing circumstances, logistical challenges and cultural differences require calmness and professional judgment. Success in this role requires understanding that not everything operates according to Dutch logic.
55% Relationship management & contract management
Guiding existing clients, formalizing agreements and carefully verifying contracts form the core of your work.
25% Internal coordination & delivery monitoring
You coordinate with genetics and logistics and ensure shipments depart completely and on time.
10% Market development & expansion
Within your network, you identify opportunities to strengthen or expand relationships.
10% International travel
Client visits and trade fairs in Russia and surrounding countries.
Who are you?
You have at least a bachelor’s level working and thinking capacity and approximately five years of experience in international trade. Reading contracts, applying Incoterms and working with bank guarantees or letters of credit are familiar territory.
This role requires oversight and responsibility. Multiple contracts and deliveries run simultaneously, often involving substantial financial interests. This calls for someone who understands the legal and commercial implications and can make independent decisions.
Russian and English are used daily in this role. Contracts, communication and negotiations take place in both languages. If you are not yet fully fluent in Russian but have a strong affinity with the region and the motivation to learn the language intensively, we still encourage you to apply.
Affinity with livestock farming or genetics is important. You must understand what is being sold and the impact of each delivery.
You maintain clear oversight when multiple dossiers run simultaneously. You work independently, receive a high level of trust and are given the freedom to manage your market. Clear targets provide direction, but how you achieve them is largely up to you.
In a market like Russia, sensitivity to relationships and hierarchy is crucial. You know when to push forward and when restraint is the stronger position.
“Ultimately, it all comes down to trust — in each other and in what is written on paper.”
